Family of the Year

 

Do you have a family member who has positively impacted your college journey? Is there someone who has helped or encouraged you come to college or stay on track in your academic journey? Nominate them for the Inaugural NMSU Aggie Family of the Year award.

 

NMSU Undergraduate and Graduate Students are invited nominate your parent, sibling, guardian, spouse or grandparent who has impacted your life significantly, both personally and academically. This is a chance for NMSU to recognize those who contribute to the success of our students.

The family member does not need to attend Family and Friends Weekend to be eligible for the award. We ask that the student be available to receive the award if the family member is unable to attend.

Criteria and Application Process

  • The NMSU Aggie Family of the Year Award seeks to recognize members of the family of birth or choice who have made a significant impact and contribution to your life as an NMSU student. By supporting you, they are supporting New Mexico State University.
  • In essay form, please tell us why your supporter should be the 2024 NMSU Aggie Family of the Year. Essays should be between 250 and 500 words.
  • To nominate your supporter for the 2024 NMSU Aggie Family of the Year award, submit a completed nomination form and essay.
  • All essays and entries will be judged in strict confidentiality by the NMSU Aggie Family of the Year Award Selection Committee. Your name and information sheet will be removed from your entry to ensure an unbiased decision. 
  • Submissions will be judged on:
    • Merit of your family member’s outstanding involvement in your life during your time at NMSU.
    • How have they served as a role model.
    • Qualities or characteristics that make them special to you.
  • By submitting this form, you allow the Office of Parent and Family Relations permission to mail or email your nominee(s) a copy of the submitted essay.

Eligibility

  • All New Mexico State University Undergraduate and Graduate students are eligible to nominate their parent(s)/sibling(s)/ guardian(s)/spouse/grandparent(s) for this award.
  • The Aggie Family of the Year Award does not discriminate against non-traditional households. If your best supporter is a member of your family of choice, they are also eligible for this award.
