On behalf of New Mexico State University, welcome home!

Whether this is your first time having a student in college or you have been through this before, it is always a new adventure. During the transition, and every year after that, we want to make sure that you and your student feel supported every step of the way. Our intent is for you to view NMSU as home.

NMSU Family Outreach Programs is committed to enhancing the student experience by supporting and advocating for their family members throughout their college experience. Our office is a support system for families that is invested in empowering you with resources, information, and space to celebrate the NMSU journey.

Our office is a collaborative office that works in conjunction with Undergraduate Admissions and student orientation programs, as well as partners from all across campus and the community. Our mission is to engage family members as partners in the educational journey of their student.

At NMSU, we embrace the multi-dimensional diversity of family structures, including families of origin and families of choice. We welcome and encourage the involvement of all family members, friends, and other supporters in the lives of our students.

¡Bienvenidos!

We Define Family as:

  • Parents, Guardians, and Siblings
  • Children, Spouses, Partners, and Significant Others
  • Extended Family: Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, and Grandparents
  • Friends
  • Any member of a student’s support system or considered loved ones

Our Goals

BUILD connections with families and between families to create a network of SUPPORT for families as they navigate their student’s journey with New Mexico State University. COMMUNICATE meaningful and accurate information about NMSU and Family Outreach Programming in a timely manner to CONNECT families, local and afar, to the university’s services. CELEBRATE the vast array of experience and cultural wealth Aggie families bring to our university, sharing in community and knowledge growth together.

BUILD. SUPPORT. COMMUNICATE. CONNECT. CELEBRATE.
